Obituary of Shelley Wynne Granger
Shelley Wynne Granger died on June 5, 2025 at Garnet Medical Center. She was 70 years old.
The daughter of the late Jane and Sterling Granger, she was born on June 20, 1954 in Memphis, TN.
Shelley brought joy and music to her community throughout her life. A dedicated employee, she worked faithfully at Flo-Jean’s Restaurant in Port Jervis until their final days. Her musical talents shone through her flute and euphonium playing as a member of the Port Jervis City Band, Broome Street Band, and Delaware Valley Choral Society, while her voice was part of the Drew United Methodist Church choir.
An accomplished crafter, Shelley’s skilled hands created beautiful works through knitting, crocheting, and needlework as a member of the Knit Wits Club at Drew. Her quick wit and infectious humor brightened every room, matching her talent for homemaking with equal measures of warmth and creativity. Nothing brought her more happiness than time with her grandchildren – where she became “one of the kids” herself during their playful adventures. Shelley’s radiant, uplifting spirit had a gift for lifting others up, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, music, and unconditional love.
Devoted mother of Teresa Mackin (Jim) and Cyrene Manegold (Jordan Mueller). Adoring grandmother of Laylah & William “Jim” Mackin. Beloved sister of Paul Nason, Wendy Hollowell (David), Jeffrey Granger (Delores), Karen Wilkerson and Stacey Granger. Cherished aunt of George, Dawn, Heather, Raymond, Stacia, Joseph, Stephen, Alicia, Julia and Annie. Dear friend of Betsy Krakowiak, Karl Sherwin and Mike Lukasik.
A visitation will take place on Monday from 2 to 4:00PM and 6 to 8:00PM at the Knight – Auchmoody Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place 11:30AM on Tuesday at the Drew United Methodist Church. The Family will greet guests beginning at 10:30AM. Following services a private cremation will take place with final committal at Laurel Grove Cemetery.

Welcome to the internet home of the Broome Street Bands. We are an all volunteer group of musicians who like to make music and have fun. We are hosted by the Drew United Methodist Church (49-51 Sussex Street) in Port Jervis, New York which is where we practice on Monday evenings. We are a friendly, family oriented group and always welcome new members. All ages are represented in our groups – from our baton twirling children to retired seniors who play in the wind ensemble. We have music teachers, professional musicians, amateurs and hobbyists. Many of our members are adults who used to play an instrument in school but hadn’t touched it in many years. If you have an instrument sitting in your closet, why not dust it off and join us for rehearsal on a Monday evening. You won’t regret it!
Our beginnings trace back many years to a small group of musicians who wanted to play live music for the Drew UMC church services. That first group was called the Swinging Stewards and the founding members included Hank Ranich and Albert Gessner (of Al’s Music Shop in Port Jervis). Eventually this small group grew to become the Broome Street Traveling All-Stars. We’ve been marching in parades ever since and have now expanded to include a variety of other musical groups. We offer something for anyone who wants to play music and have fun! We are a 501c3 non profit and every year we give scholarship money to some members who are graduating from High School.
